The in-running markets
In running horse racing is actually quite interesting because although before a race you can argue, that the odds of a runner are pretty much spot on, in running can be totally different.
Why?
Well there are probably a lot of reasons, but I would say the most likely reason is…
PANIC!
Just like before a race goes “off” where there are punters who are trying to pick a winner, those trying to trade and those trying to lay a loser, they are present in running as well, but the difference is that everything happens a lot quicker.
This is easy to see, just watch any of the in running markets and you will often see what look’s like the winner dropping in price, only to see another replace it as the winner. Sometimes you look at the market and just wonder what could be happening out on the course!
If you have ever read any books or trading financial or betting you may have come across the advice that “you should look at what the market is doing and do the opposite”.
Well the first thing to do is not Panic, the second thing to do is look at opportunities to lay, when people are backing and backing when people are laying. Ok it’s not an easy task but if you play around with some ideas with the prior advice in mind, you may be surprised what you come up with.
The one problem you will have is the speed at which you will probably have to act and to be honest, you are going to have to be super fast because unless you decide to use a bot like GHB, you are likely to be up against a lot of other bots.
(Note: Have you ever watched how much money is backed (and lay) on a runner when it hits 1.01? Well I can tell you 99% of that is placed by bots. This is one of the reasons that Betfair have started to charge for excessive API calls.)
GHB will not only allow you to set in-running parameters but will also allow you to trade automatically if this is what you prefer and also because you can automatically choose any runner or number of runners, or Manually select the runner yourself, there are plenty of different scenario’s you can try.
GHB can also be set to trade and not only horse racing. Football, Snooker and Tennis are all available.
