The Evenly Matched Trader

The SocaTrader methods were put into great use over the weekend and none more so than Method 4....

The Evenly Matched Trader

This method is extremely useful and involves trading on matches where both teams are very closely matched in terms of league position and so forth.

The aim is to scan through the betfair.com markets and search for any games where the home and away team both have odds of over 2.0 BUT the home team must have the better odds, even if it's by a very small margin. The away side must NOT have odds higher than 3.65.

To locate the list of weekend or midweek games with odds, locate a specific league. For example, we'll use the English remiership. Locate the Soccer market, then English soccer, then Barclays Premiership, now select "coupon" and then "Weekend English Premiership"

Now you should be greeted by a screen such as the one below

Now, as already stated, we need to select games where both sides have odds over 2.0 and the home side has the better odds and we must take into account that the away side must not have odds over 3.65.

From the above screenshot, we see

Liverpool vs. Man United

Fulham vs. Aston Villa

Sheffield United vs. Everton

Watford vs. Charlton

All fit the odds qualifications.

Now, you have the options to either

A) Trade on all of these

B) Select one or just a few to trade on.

I highly recommend you select one game at each specific kick off time to minimize your work load.

The aim here is to LAY the away side and trade off at either half time, or when a goal occurs.

The reason we say half time is that, if they are not winning the game, their odds are constantly rising. Also being away from home, it causes their odds to rise as well.

If the home side scores a goal, this will cause the odds to skyrocket even more. Seeing the teams are fairly evenly matched, it means that there is less of a chance of the away side coming back into the game because of it being such a tight match.

One match leaps out straight away, with Aston Villa seemingly drawing every game they play in and sitting one place above Fulham in the table this match looks as evenly matched as they come.

So, let us take Fulham vs. Aston Villa as our example in this match.

The aim here would be to LAY Aston Villa for £100 at odds of 3.35.

This would give us a potential profit of £100 if the game ended in a home win or draw. If Aston Villa were to manage an away win then we would be liable to pay out £235.

The aim now, is to either wait until half time to trade off or, if there is an early goal for the home side, trade off immediately

The reason we say wait until half time is because at half time, if the score is still 0-0, the odds will have risen quite a bit for the home and away side and the odds for a draw will have dropped to just above or below the 2.0 mark.

This means that we can get a nice profitable trade.

Fulham went straight up the other end and equalised through Carlos

Bocanegra two minutes later!

I also recommend you hedge your bet for this method as well. Seeing it is a close game, the result could be anything. It's betting to escape with a guaranteed profit than a loss or nothing. Every bit helps!

Question:

What to do if the away team scores first? Well firstly, this rarely happens, secondly if it does, there is almost ALWAYS an equaliser.

Through various tests we came to pick this up. That is why this method is also so profitable!
