Let’s take an example of a simple Back and Lay betting:-
| German Bundesliga |
| Frankfurt vs Hannover | Match Odds |
| Sat,27 October 02:30 | Back| Lay | | Frankfurt | 2.44| 2.46 | | Draw | 3.15| 3.20 | | Hannover | 3.60| 3.65 | | | | |
Let’s say you favor Frankfurt to win and you are willing to place a bet of $ 100 on Frankfurt to win. You Back Frankfurt at the offer price of 2.44. Once your bet has been matched, your $ 100 will be frozen by the Exchange till the game is over.
If Frankfurt wins, you will get back $244 + $100 = $344
The Exchange will charge a small commission of between 1% to 5% on your winnings of $244.
If Frankfurt losses, your loses will be $100.
Now, Lay betting is a little different from Back betting. If you place a Lay on a team it means that you are betting that the team will not win.
Now, if you choose to Lay Hannover at $3.20, it means that you are betting that Hannover will not win.
If you Lay $100.00 on Hannover not to win, and Hannover looses or draws, your winnings is $100. However, if Hannover wins, your loses will be
(Stake x Odds) – Stake which is ($100 x $3.20) - $100. Thus, your loses will be $220.
Whenever you choose to Lay a bet, always take note of your liability. It is the amount that you will loose should your lay bet wins.
