2009 French Open Championship Predictions
Is professional tennis one of your favorite sports to be a spectator for? Do you love clay? Is it correct that you loved to play with clay as a child? I know I did. Anyway, the 2009 French Open is coming up next month. You might not know it but this grand slam tournament is one that features clay courts. Clay surfaces are different from grass and hard court surfaces in that they are slower and can be less favorable to tennis players who primarily rely on hard ground strokes and powerful serves to be successful.
If you are a tennis fanatic, you undoubtedly are looking forward to watching the 2009 French Open tournament like myself. By reading this article, you will acquire strong insight on who is likely to become the 2009 French Open champion.
We will first discuss the ladies' side. I believe Venus Williams and her sister, Serena, possess a decent chance of winning the 2009 French Open championship title because they are extremely talented, young tennis players and have won plenty of grand slam titles, including the French Open. On the other hand, I believe other female tennis players also possess a strong chance of winning the tournament because the Williams sisters have had more success at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open tournaments; additionally, the Williams sisters are Americans and American tennis players usually do not go very far in clay court tournaments such as the French Open.
We will now discuss the men's side. I believe Rafael Nadal possesses the premier shot at winning the 2009 French Open. One reason is that he is either the best tennis player in the world or he is dead even with his chief rival, Roger Federer. Another reason is Nadal moves so well on clay surfaces and plays dominant tennis there. The third reason is Nadal has won his French Open matches in an easy fashion. Federer only holds a remote chance of winning the tournament because he only won one set against Nadal at Roland Garros in 2006 and 2007 while only winning a total of four games in three sets last year. Furthermore, Federer seems to be fading ever so slightly.
Other male tennis players who possess a slight chance of winning the 2009 French Open championship title include Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Djokovic possesses a slight chance of winning because he is the third best player in the world, he is in his early twenties like Nadal and he consistently goes far in each grand slam tournament. Murray has a slight chance of winning because he is very young, he is a rising star and he has recently won matches against Nadal and Federer. Djokovic and Murray have a lot going for them but it will not be enough. The 2009 French Open tournament is Nadal's to lose.
